9 TIPS IF YOU ARE LOCKED OUT OF YOUR HOUSE IN 2019

Nothing can be more frustrating than having lost all the keys to the house and being locked out in the sweltering sun. Most of the people are so confused and panicked. They cannot think straight and forget everything. Panicking makes the situation worse, so try to keep a cool head in such situations, and it can be easily conquered.

These tips will help anyone in a residential lockout situation and give them a clear understanding of the situation:

1) CHECK ALL THE DOORS:

It could be possible you forgot to lock any door, or some door has a malfunction. Keep calm and work through all the doors there are on the around the house.

2) CHECK ALL THE WINDOWS:

Like doors, there can be a window that is left open or unlocked. Check for all the windows that are within reach.

3) FIND THE SPARE KEY:

Most homeowners keep a spare key hidden under the carpet, in the mailbox or behind the nameplates. Try to think where the spare key was placed or was there a spare key or not.

4) CALL FOR FAMILY:

If living with a family, try to contact everyone. Maybe anyone of them might possess an extra key that can be used to access the house.

5) TRY TO PICK THE LOCK:

Picking the lock can seem a little awkward, but in such a situation, it can be tried. There are different ways one can pick a lock, but it requires the right tools and experience. When locked out of the house, it can be challenging to gain access to any tools, so take help from the neighbors.

6) CALL A LOCKSMITH:

Calling a locksmith can be the best option when locked out of vehicles or houses. A locksmith will be professional and experienced with all the correct tools specially made for opening locks. A professional locksmith will be able to open all the locks and make duplicate keys for the house so such problems could be avoided in the future.

7) CALL THE NEIGHBORS:

Calling the neighbors will give an extra pair of hands for trying to open the locks and getting in the house. It could be possible that the neighbor has a ladder with which the upper windows can be accessed. It might be possible that the windows on the top portion are open. The neighbors can also help to call local services to help if you forgot the phone in the house.

8) REMOVE THE DOOR KNOBS:

Using a screwdriver borrowed from the neighbors, try to remove the screws of the doorknob. If there is no deadbolt, it can be easily opened by removing the doorknobs. Most doors do not have external screws, so a good push into the plates and pulling it off can be a better approach. However, some commercial lockout mechanisms do not use such knobs that could be easily removed with screwdrivers.

9) BREAK THE WINDOWS:

It should be done in the last resort. In case of emergency, if you need to enter the house immediately, break the window with a brick. Try to find the window farthest from the child, and aim at the corner of the window.
